Resumen
La hernia lumbar es una patología poco frecuente, representando menos del 2% de las hernias de la pared abdominal. Usualmente, puede ser confundida con otras entidades y a pesar de un examen físico adecuado es difícil sospechar su presencia. El tratamiento quirúrgico es el estándar de referencia; sin embargo, no hay evidencia establecida en la literatura en relación con la mejor vía de abordaje. Aun así, el menor trauma y la recuperación clínica más rápida hacen que se prefiera el abordaje laparoscópico. La presente publicación tiene como objetivo describir el caso clínico de un paciente adulto mayor con dolor lumbar crónico en quien se documenta una hernia lumbar, posterior a lo cual se le indica una corrección quirúrgica por abordaje mínimamente invasivo. Adicionalmente, se realiza una breve revisión de la literatura del tema en mención.
