Resumen

Introducción: La predicción del suicidio constituye un reto para el personal sanitario debido a la subjetividad de algunos de los factores que intervienen en este fenómeno, así como la dificultad en la medición de moléculas biológicas implicadas al nivel del sistema nervioso central o del ADN. Por esta razón, recientemente ha surgido el interés por biomarcadores plasmáticos para la predicción del comportamiento suicida en pacientes con trastornos mentales, especialmente aquellos diagnosticados con depresión mayor. El objetivo de la presente revisión es determinar la efectividad de biomarcadores plasmáticos en la predicción de comportamiento suicida en pacientes con depresión mayor.

Metodología: Se realizó una revisión de alcance basada en el marco metodológico propuesto por Kasaju, et al. Se identificaron publicaciones relevantes en las bases de datos PubMed y Embase durante octubre de 2022.

Resultados: Se encontraron diferencias significativas en los niveles plasmáticos de NPY, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-12, monocitos, glucosa, tenascina C, cortisol, quinurenina y triptófano entre pacientes diagnosticados con depresión mayor con comportamiento suicida y controles sanos.

Conclusión: La medición de biomarcadores plasmáticos es una potencial herramienta para la predicción del comportamiento suicida debido a su efectividad en pacientes diagnosticados con depresión mayor.
