Abstract
This narrative review briefly highlights historical aspects on the evolution, development and application of the principal techniques in fetal surgery. It describes the use of intrauterine surgery in certain fetal pathologies such as complications in monochorionic pregnancies, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, spina bifida, lower urinary tract obstruction and fetal lung lesions. In each case, available surgical techniques are explored together with its clinical use. Finally, the implementation of fetal surgery in Colombia is discussed, a new field in the Organización Sanitas Internacional, that is hoping to become a national as well as international reference center.
