Abstract
Necrotizing enterocolitis is a severe inflammatory gastrointestinal disease that affects newborns with specific risk factors. It has a high mortality and morbidity rate; and it is one of the pathologies that need immediate attention in neonatology, the diagnostic method is the simple abdominal x-ray where multiple signs are described and together with the clinic, it can be classified into the state of gravity in which the pathology is found, for convention the clinical follow-up of these patients is carried out with a simple abdominal radiography; But what usefulness is ultrasound in the follow-up of these patients, what advantages and disadvantages does it have compared to conventional radiography? This article answers these questions in a systematic way based on the literature and a case carried out at the Sanitas University Clinic.
