Resumen

El virus del Sarcoma de Kaposi (KSHV) / Herpesvirus humano 8 (HHV8) es un virus oncogénico asociado con el Sarcoma de Kaposi, varios tipos de desórdenes inmunoproliferativos, y potencialmente con otras enfermedades de variada naturaleza patogénica. Esta revisión pretende describir algunos rasgos genéticos, moleculares, epidemiológicos, históricos e infectológicos de este joven actor en la panorámica médica contemporánea.
