Resumen

La fluidoterapia a pesar de ser una intervención cotidiana, esta pobremente soportada desde el punto de vista científico. Desde hace una década se han publicado estudios que reevalúan estos esquemas tradicionales y apuntan a una administración más meticulosa de los fluidos, donde la meta es la normovolemia. El concepto fundamental es la prevención del edema tisular que afecta de manera adversa el proceso de cicatrización en la mayoría de las cirugías mayores. El mejor método para identificar excesos de fluidos es la monitoria del peso perioperatorio.
