Abstract
Introduction: Breast cancer represents the first cause of death from cancer worldwide, so an accurate imaging diagnosis significantly modifies the prognosis. Objective: In this research, the findings by mammography, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging were characterized, according to the histopathological type of breast cancer in female patients from the city of Bogotá, Colombia, during the period 2013 - 2018; Materials and method: a descriptive, retrospective study was carried out in patients with breast cancer confirmed by biopsy and with images available in the institutional storage system, which were interpreted with the lexicon of BI-RADS®. Results: In a total of 83 patients, with a mean age of 54.43 years, most of whom were overweight or obese and/or had a family history of breast cancer, the most frequent histological type was infiltrating ductal carcinoma, which presented as a single nodule. , irregular, non-circumscribed margins, hypoechoic on ultrasound, with posterior acoustic shadow and associated with microcalcifications in 27% of cases, similar to infiltrating lobular carcinoma, which, in addition, is associated with axillary lymphadenopathy in 50%; for the ductal in situ subtype, the most frequent presentation was grouped and/or segmental microcalcifications with suspicious morphology.
