Resumen

Objetivo: establecer la magnitud de los reingresos hospitalarios y su relación con factores pronósticos incluyendo características demográficas, clínicas y costos, en afiliados de la Organización Sanitas Internacional, en Colombia. Métodos: estudio analítico de una cohorte retrospectiva, que incluye 77.615 pacientes hospitalizados, entre enero 01 de 2008 y enero 31 de 2009. Resultados: la probabilidad de reingreso a los 30 días fue de 9,3%; a los 60 días 12,1% y a los 90 días 13,9%. Se observó mayor número de reingresos en hombres y en mayores de 65 años. Los diagnósticos asociados con enfermedades hematológicas del sistema circulatorio y neoplasias fueron los que presentaron los mayores valores de riesgo relativo (14,5; 7,9 y 7,8, respectivamente). El promedio de estancia hospitalaria de los pacientes que reingresaron a los 30, 60 y 90 días fue mayor que el de aquellos que no reingresaron (6,71 vs. 4,08 días, p.
