Abstract
Academic conference posters are a method of communicating academic research in a succinct and
engaging manner. They can be created for a variety of reasons, including to communicate the progress
a research project is making, to seek collaborators for future research projects, as an alternative to a
traditional conference presentation, or to advance an academic career. Creating a poster provides the
author with a pleasant visual record of their research, which can be put on public display after a lecture.
This article aims to provide an overview of the process of creating, designing and presenting academic
posters, characterizing some tools and resources that will be of use to researchers intending to present
an academic poster.
